How to achieve slick back wet hair look?

Whenever I put gel in my hair it dries up quickly and looks like shit. It looks even drier than before applying the gel. It doesn’t look wet and moist. Should I try a new hair product? Pomade? Gel? Mousse? Do I apply it to wet hair out of the shower? Give me some tips. I want to go for this look:

I don’t think it looks tbh but to each is own I guess, I dunno only used it when I was a kid can’t remember tbh.

Pomade and I believe some sea salt shit is better for that

Mousse and Clay is better for quiffs
