Great bro. I’m going to school in Canada.Depends on one huge factor: wether or not you’re dorming or commuting.
Dorming: Start small with people on your floor, and if ur doing a campus tour, try and make friends there. While those friends likely won’t turn into anything meaningful, it’s a great start. Join clubs, and TALK TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. One thing I try to do is talk to people who seem lonely. Have a good social image, get everyone’s insta (it’ll increase your followers, which will also increase your status, and potentially lead you to connect with people that you otherwise wouldn’t have). Obviously join clubs, and maximize outreach especially on the first month. Dont worry about embarrassing yourself, as uni have so many people unlike high school. It’ll just come with practice. Also talk to people in class, which will help with studying and cheating on hw/tests. And go to as many parties as possible. If you live in the us, download Yikyak. You can figure out what it is, but you’ll be able to find parties and people you can befriend. Say no to as little stuff (within reason, don’t do hard drugs). Join a sports club or team (even if you suck, most clubs don’t expect you to be good), which will also give you a great friend group, better status, and also all of the positive effects that come from working out.
Commuting: I commuted my freshman year, and ngl it fucking sucked. If you commute, you need to really focus on deep connections, and having a ton of surface friends is going to be extremely hard. Do the same thing as the paragraph above, but you had significantly less margin for error. I focused on joining clubs, and joined a frat my second semester, which was genuinely one of the best decisions.Yeah pledging sucked, but the friendships and opportunities you’ll get (socially, slaying, and career related) is so worth it. You should be as active as possible in campus, and get your name out as much as possible (in a good way). Through that I’ve been able to statusmaxx and my uni experience has been so much better. I went from being a chud to decently popular and honestly loving life.
See if Yikyak or a similar app exists for ur schoolGreat bro. I’m going to school in Canada.
