How to become more empathetic?

Ever since I watched those ISIS beheading videos at 7 I lost a lot of empathy. I always used to hurt small animals too I just want to feel empathy but I've never felt bad about hurting people or animals...
 
What is empathy like for you guys? I mean I don't hurt people for no reason but also I don't feel bad when I do
