What is a workflow
A workflow is a series of steps you can follow to achieve a goal. Why should I make a workflow
A workflow is important because it lists out the exact series of steps you need to follow to complete something so you will never need to think about what you need to do.Lets go over some examples:
Example 1 – Cleaning your room
- Pick up trash
- Pick up dishes
- Vacuum
- Organize
Example 2 – Writing an essay
- Skim through the wiki page about the topic
- Write out a summary of the topic
- Break down the summary into pieces
- Turn those pieces into paragraphs by going into more detail
Example 3 – Solving a problem
- Break down all of the information of the problem into it's smallest pieces
- Understand each fragment of the problem
- Put all of the fragments together and hopefully you will have some ideas about a solution
- If not leave for some amount of time. Allow your brain to make some new subconscious background connections about the problem and return to step 1.
Making your own workflow
- Ask yourself: What is the best series of steps I can take to achieve this goal?
- Try to write out a good flexible set of steps that you use whenever you do the thing in question
- When you use those steps in the future constantly ask yourself: Is there a better way to go about this?
- If you think of anything be sure to write it down and slightly tweak your workflow to make it more efficient.
