compare the measurements of the item thats being sold with the measurements of clothes you already own and fit you well
lay it completely flat on the floor and measure armpit to armpit, armpit to bottom, overall length and sleeve length
for pants measure waist width, rise (crotch to waist, overall length and leg opening

these will almost always be enough to know the item will fit you unless its a very specific cut

its just a way to ensure the clothes will fit you most of the time, i suggest you shop second hand online, youre going to get best value for your money that way

if you just want to look good you can go on pinterest for outfit inspiration, zoomers dress really basic so you wont need expensive clothes
if you want to express yourself through your fashion choices its a different thing though
