I'd try to take note of something they are wearing - I am into fashion tbh. So I would approach and say somethign like "hi, I just noticed you had a really nice coat, I was thinking of getting something for my mum - it's her birthday soon (I'd smile and laugh a little at that point), where did you get the coat from?" and from there, I'd end up talking about fashion and shit. If she's into me, she will continue the conversation. It's just a matter of not appearing like a creep and appearing like a good person.

Shit like this works for me quite well

When I mentioned their coat, jacket, or whatever item of clothing, they immediately grab to it, like being scared I might snatch it from them.

At this point they stare for a few seconds, with a suspicious look on their face, like they don't believe a word of what I'm saying, then mumble something like :"I don't know...", "From that store", "It's a gift".
