I’m in my freshman year of high school (year10) and I’m genuinely quite pissed off by the educational system here.
My high school is much better than the ones nearby, but it still sucks, like the educational process.
I used to go to a private middle school but this year I had to switch to a public high school to continue my education.
My biggest problem with it is the structure of lessons and how useless they sometimes are. Most lessons are 70-80 minutes and this is just a ridiculous time for a teenager to sit at one spot and take notes or work on some bs project. I genuinely can’t concentrate for this long on one thing which is terrible.
I got grades above average, I’d say one of the best in my year group, but still the whole system is just killing me.
Most of the times teachers just yap during lessons about stuff that is not even important and won’t come up on the test. Then some of them fail to even put up a comprehensive checklist, which makes me pray that my class doesn’t have the test first because then I’m beyond cooked.
I genuinely think I’m an intelligent person and I can produce high-quality results in the correct environment, but my high school is not it for most of the time.
So I’d appreciate any sort of advice on how to cope with this bullshit and actually spend the 8 hours improving myself day by day intellectually.
