Gotten a few PM's regarding this. so I thought I'd make a quick guide.
You can go anywhere for very cheap if you use Skyscanner calendar view, you are not picky about certain dates and you book a few months in advance.
This is just an example from Manchester UK. But the principles apply anywhere.
Stick in your local airport and "anywhere" in the destination field. Put the dates as whole months in the future.
You will get a list of counties that you can visit in ascending order from the cheapest to more expensive. These prices listed are date dependent and the cheapest possible.
Oh look .. I think I fancy visiting Kiev in Ukraine (tee hee) let's click that.
This is where the calendar view comes up and you need to play around with the dates. Selecting a departing date will affect the prices on the returning date so you gotta just play around and see what works for you.
Here I found a nice 7 day trip for only £40. If you want o stay longer than 7 days then you can find even cheaper
