Ortho fucked you, you should have been on elastics for a few months depending on the severity of the overbite.

No elastics do not pull your maxilla back. They don't apply anywhere near enough force to make a visiual difference in your maxilla, It can benefit you by projecting you're mandible depending on what stages of development your in.
