yea, at the end of the day it is gambling, no one knows what direction the market is going. Years and years of work can help with pattern recognition making it easier but at the end of the day only .1% could possibly even make a living, its a combination of luck, and years of paper trading and praying.

If one want to join the 0.1%. Than one has to make it their job, and thus one need to go do that for work. That's the only way. One won't become a pro-trader, managing ones own few 1000's dollars of savings for years. One will have emptied it, plenty time.
Just put money in an index or whatever, and forget.

If one can beat the market, and thus mogg 95% of pro-traders even. One should be working in that field, and managing other people their money. People will pay you, if you can beat the market (semi-consistently).
