You can insane deals on top-tier garments on ebay. Some of them are literally in nee condition but are still discounted by like 80-90%

Savile Row Tailors to Look For:

Anderson & Sheppard(James Bond)

Henry Poole

Huntsman

Gieves & Hawkes (older pieces)

Richard James

Top Italian Suit Brands:

Brioni

Kiton

Isaia

Loro Piana

Canali (higher lines)

Zegna (Couture line)

Caruso

Cesare Attolini

Difference between Savile Row and Neopolitan Tailoring. You can learn here

2. eBay Strategy

Search like this: Use keywords like β€œSavile Row suit 38R” or β€œBrioni handmade jacket.”

Save searches: Let eBay notify you the second something gets listed.

Look for poor listings: Misspelled brand names ("Briony" instead of "Brioni") = fewer bidders = cheap deals.

Snipe Auctions: Bid at the last second using tools like Gixen.

3. Find Your Measurements

Forget β€œSmall/Medium/Large” sizing. You need exact measurements:

Shoulder to shoulder

Chest (pit to pit)

Sleeve length

Jacket length (bottom of collar to hem)

Waist, inseam, rise (for pants)

Ask the seller for measurements if not listed. Tailored suits are not all the same size even if labeled "40R." I'm 44R but I often can get away with 42R too it depends.

4. Authentication

Ask for close-up photos of tags, stitching, buttonholes, and linings.
Compare with known authentic pieces online. These high-end suits generally have a lot of handwork and attention to details. Everything looks and feels extremely premium. High armholes, ticket pockets, surgeon cuffs these are all signature Savile Row Touches.

Avoid anything β€œtoo cheap” without proof Brioni jackets for $50 are usually fake or heavily damaged.

5. Budget for Tailoring

Even the best deal may need slight adjustments. Budget $50–$150 for a local tailor to:

Adjust sleeves

Bring in the waist

Hem pants

Major changes (like shoulder or chest alterations) are risky and expensive so buy close to your fit.

Bonus Tip-Be mindful of shipping charges sometimes they can be ridiculously expensive so you can contact them seller and find a way to get it shipped to your place for cheap throught package aggregators instead of eBay

Examples they sell for thousands of dollars retail but you can buy them for a just a couple hundred dollars on ebay

Not everything you have to do in life has to be for women. Being well dressed like a gentleman makes me happy. It fills me with confidence. Suits are made to give you presence in a room.

True of cars as well.
Even six months of usage causes massive depreciation

Good thread I’ll say buying 1-2 good suits is good although if I want to dress formal, I think opting for just a dress shirt with a tie usually does the job

I'd suggest 1 Navy suit. 1 Tan/beige and 1 patterned suit

I don’t own any as of now since I’m still in college but will look into it, I do also want to get an all blacked out suit though maybe with some hints of red but sadly ppl will just think I’m a β€œtryhard” if I wear suits regularly in public

Wearing suits is pointless if you're still in school, but it can slide if you have a job or whatever. Are you working soon?

Also what's your location? In the US it's tryhard, even here in NYC. But in London or Europe you should be fine.

Blacked out suits arent versatile imo. It looks like you came from a funeral. Charcoal grey is a better alternative. Full 2- piece or 3 piece suits yes do come off as tryhard if you wear them without occasion but sports coat and casual blazers with a odd trouser combo aren't tryhard for even casual meeting imo.

Maybe yes, it would be good for interviews and what not. I also just like the aesthetic lol, I would genuinely just wear a suit for fun if it was seen as normal

I thought most wall street firms required you to wear a suit for work

What's your pheno or race? That could help narrow it down.

Navy suits look great on light phenotypes, but charcoal grey might be a better choice otherwise.

Nah dude, everyone here wears a down vest and a dress shirt. Some try to spice it up and wear a Moncler vest or whatever instead of your standard Patagonia. But times have changed a lot and Wall Street has lost a lot of its glamour.

Occasionally you'll see a suit though, probably a higher-up.

Same tbh. Wish I could wear suits more often without being judged. Wearing suits used to be common

WASPs larping as their superior English descendants back home, but yes. America used to have a lot more class.

I don't know if you can blame us Jews for this though. Formal wear started dying off since the 1990s as offices began to relax their dress codes in favor of casual clothing. But what really caused the shift was Kanye West and the normalization of streetwear and athleisure across the entire country. People started wearing running shoes to the office and whatnot.

Actually, almost every part of lower class culture becoming the norm for men in the US is due to Kanye West if you care to explore this: music, fashion, etc. Which makes it beyond hilarious and ironic that he now larps as some Nazi and the alt-right worships him.

And on the flip side, almost every part of lower class culture becoming the norm for women in the US is due to his former wife, Kim Kardashian. These two have done more cultural damage to America and the world than us Jews could have ever imagined.

The ones I listed are old school but there's a lot of contemporary styles wirh bright colors and bold patterns on ebay too. Savile Row is conservative and old fashioned. If you want something modern you want to look for Neopolitan style

You don't have to wear suits all the time. Swap the Chinese sweater for a cardigan and wear it with a dress shirt, shoes and chinos and you are better dressed than 90% of peoppe
