Maybe some time of perm exists to loosen curls and not make the hair completely straight, some say products, others use tools like blow dryer in a specific way with x y z brush etc

Thanks. The reason I wanted to avoid using chemical straighteners is because I did that once and my dad got so pissed it was over for me. Never seen him that mad in his whole life.

Because wavy has broader appeal , easier to style and maintain. Not everyone can go from straight/wavy hair to straight up curly and look good. But majority of people with curly hair will look better with straight/wavy or loose curls not tight ethnic curls or 4c type of hair. I'm not referring to african guys for example since they will look weird af with straight or wavy hair, but on a broader scale, wavy is better

I'm no basement dweller but from my experiences and hearing girls talk about ''curly'' hair they're referring to loose curls to the point where it's mostly wavy, rarely pure curls like ethnics. They like the perm that makes your hair kinda messy and wooly not ethnic looking tight curls

Yeah it was basically this and its supposedly against islam.

Thats why I wanted to go from curls to 2c wavy specifically because 2c sorta looks curly but its believable and I could just tell him that I have a hair routine and I didnt use chemicals like a perm.

But if I fully straighten it then it'll look too obvious.
