How to grow hair correct

I want to grow my hair out but after like one month it gets poofy instead of coming straight down

This is gonna sound kinda cringe but I want it to be like mikamis hair from death note
Do I need to just give my hair time to grow?
Do I need to debulk it when it gets poofy?
My hair is really thick also

im going through this rn

make sure you style your hair, i personally use sea salt when it wet do 4-5 sprays on every part of my skull, rub it across my scalp evenly

wait till gets a 70% dry and apply clay from undercut, it holds good

since my hair is very bulky and thick, i go to a barber every 2-3 month to remove the weight of the hair (once you will have too much hair it will be very hard to style it)

Just let it grow out. Don’t forget to comb your hair. Also I would recommend you to go to a hairdresser. I’m cutting my hair my self (sort of a modcut) while letting it grow and after every cut it looks worse and worse.
