How to know if you need palate expander ?

Title. I’m 18 and a half and I’m wondering if I need one, what measurements or test can I do at home to determine if it would help me ?

Also would it do anything for me at this age or is my shit fused ?

Ok, but how do I determine if I need 1 in the first place, I don’t think my palate is that narrow, but then again idk what a good or even average palate is supposed to look like

cut a apple in half and bite into it. measure from the first molars. cant remember how much mm wide its supposed to be tho
