During a visit to a psychiatric hospital, one of the visitors asked the director:
What is the criterion by which you decide who needs to be hospitalized here?
The director replied:
We fill a bathtub with water and offer the patient:
a spoon, a glass, and a bucket, and ask him to empty it. Depending on how he chooses to empty it, we decide whether to hospitalize him or not.
"Ah! I get it."
"A normal person would use the bucket, which is larger than the glass and the spoon," said the visitor.
"No!" replied the director.
"A normal person would take the plug out of the drain.
"What do you prefer?"
