How to know whether you need just bimax or bimax + genio?

Because a recessed mandible causes a weak chin
Mandible advancement by itself would theoretically fix the weak chin because it moves the entire mandible forward including the chin
So whats the need for genio as well? is it just for people with low amounts of bone mass

It depends on the person tbh. Some people have projected mandibles but weak chins while others have projected chins but still have recessed jaws.

Bimax is for malocclusion. Often times but not always people who have class 2 bite need genio because their genio is recessed along with the mandible.

so how do you tell whether you have a recessed mandible + chin or solely a recessed mandible
is having a class 2 bite the only way

If you have a class 1 bite there is no reason to get jaw surgery because the relationship between you jaws are already healthy.
