How to maintain beard while it's growing?

So i got good genes for my beard , i started getting facial hair at age 11 and if i didnt shave from then i would have had a full beard. Now i'm 17 and idk how to proceed with my beard. So currently i shape around the neck to make it more clean but hair grows faster on my neck than on the cheeks. Should i keep shaving my neck and leave the mustache,chin and cheeks alone or how should i do it to make the beard even and not patchy while it grows? I can't go to a barbershop to do it since it's not thick enought etc plus corona
