I am a 19 (Almost 20 Year old Cybersecurity Analyst), and I have been working in Cybersecurity for almost a year and a half (I am still in school)

Tools I have experience with:
Microsoft Azure, Crowdstrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender XDR, LogRhythm, Splunk, Checkpoint firewall, Elastic Stack (ELK), SentinelOne, Chronicle SOAR, Claroty xDome, FortiSIEM, FortiEDR, Cofense

The problem is the skill gap between my current position, and moving upward into a a mid level role (Especially after college). With the job market lacking in opportunities, In addition to the fact that its literally flooded to death. How can I really stand out more?

Join military Army 17C. You make hella once you’re done.

salary? if you dont mind
15$ an hour, part time. The tradeoff of my company is that they literally are willing to hire you from the cradle, and you will get experience, but the salary at my company is just low. Beyond my company ill actually make a good salary with my skills.

so like an internship?

the moment you thought about making this post, was the moment it became over for you. if you need to ask for advice here of all places and for cybersecurity of all things you are completely retarded and you should just get a factory job

up ur experience with reversing using tools like IDA and DNspy, up ur experience with both arch and debian based distros. Get deeply into self hosting. Then inside of your resume spam software preferences and heres where the sauce is. Mention alternative software and why your preference beats out that one. Hiring managers love that shit. Also id recommend trying to get out of small analyst jobs and SOC jobs as soon as ur out of school. Depends on where you are in the world but most western cyber recruiters mainly care about actual hands on experience and interest rather then ONLY formally educated and doing it because mom says itll pay the bills

reversing is great! and being able to articulate your interest in it and also understanding of it is an awesome way to show your interest of the systems hes been on, tools and how its further than just the surface level as per most people in his position. the main question being asked is how can he stand out. the truth is almost everyone in that beginner position i was once in has identical credentials, age, background, references. The people who have all that and show a deeper interest in the actual tools being used are favoured. sure it doesnt have to be reversing but its very very underrated for this persons tool kit and resume and can branch different types of well paying jobs like malware analysis

You want him to completely pivot from the tools he invested a year in to malware analysis

Nigga lets be so deadass right now he needs to move to an MSSP that doesnt pay him shit money then become a manager
