How to not always get blackout drunk?

Most of the times when I drink I don’t stop and get blackout drunk and then I do dumb shit. On holiday with friends I blacked out 7 days in a row so I basically just spent money without making memories. Does anyone have any advice on how to stop drinking when already drunk?
