He said all you have to do is meditate, and you'll remember them

It's completely true

I quit weed some time ago, got many dreams

Then they stopped

I didn't realize they came back when I started meditating, direct correlation

I went and found it

It was about my friends murdering someone. While I stood by and did nothing

It was analogous because I didn't kill the poor fella, but I led him down that path of drug addiction. And never helped or tried to fix him

He just used the concept as a part of individuation

Why im saying this is because I believe Lacanian philosophy has a more holistic interpretation of being that extends into the dream world, unlike Jung afaik

i personally dont believe there is a "base archetype" and lacan's use of wordage might be flawed. i think its safer to say that pre-symbolic existence is non-subjective, it is only through oedipalization and the mirror stage that the subject is formed. think of it like this: pre-symbolic existence is holistic and absolute, devoid of comparison. it is through the separation of the mother that the subject is formed via division and fragmentation. however, the subject still sees themself as a unified, whole object in the mirror, contrary to their fragmented conscious identity. this is why lacan calls it misrecognition, as the ego (whole and unified) is basically trying to simulate something that was lost because of oedipus
