Upper eyelid exposure (UEE) is when your eyelids are visible when your eyes are open. This makes you look less alert, we do not want this.
The frontalis is the muscle responsible for raising your eyebrows.
Look in front of the mirror, open your eyes really wide like you're shocked. Your eyelids will become more visible. And the muscle that causes this move is called your Frontalis. But believe it or not, your Frontalis is probably more active than it needs to be, right now (raising your eyebrows, and causing more eyelid exposure).
What you do (a few times a day):
- Place your palm flat on your forehead
- Raise your forehead skin with your hand
- Resist with your eyebrows, like you’re really angry
- Hold this for 30 seconds
- Let go, and let your eyebrows sink to their lowest position
- Hold this position. This is how your eye area should naturally look
Over time, this will become a habit, and you will no longer need to do this everyday. You may also say “but won’t this cause wrinkles?” Good question, but no. The amount of time spent doing this is so small, and also, by relaxing your Frontalis, you reduce wrinkles, as it isn’t constantly scrunching your forehead all of the time.
It may take time to adjust to this, as it temporarily slightly lowers your field of vision.
Call it cope all you want, but people inject Botox into their frontalis to paralyze, this is just a natural way to relax it over time.
