Wife wants to go for a week so I’m wondering how to save money there.

I just came back from a trip there
Take local trains and buses instead of the bullet train
Eat at places without english menus and that are off main roads
The accommodation is all basically the same size so just get something close to a train station that's cheap

What are you planning to do/where are you going?

Thanks for the advice! It’s a very short trip (1 week) but we didn’t decide the itinerary yet

How did you find it?

it was very enjoyable
The worst part was the overcrowding especially in more popular tourist destinations like some places in kyoto. I would recommend going to less well known temples and gardens if your wife is interested in that thing, in a less busy city like nagoya. Or if she really wants to see the more famous sights then go early in the morning

Yeah we are avoiding Kyoto for now, but we are flying into Tokyo
We like a mix of the famous sights and some less explored areas, leaning into less explored areas
