not really high iq when they make it this easy. most us stores are on a trust system, employees aren't allowed to stop you or verbally confront you, if they do call the cops, the cops rarely respond immediately if at all, because if it's under 1k usd, the da will just drop the charges. even if you don't want to draw attention to yourself, all you need to do is go to the self checkout kiosk press a few buttons and pretend you're paying
