Hi everyone,
I’m considering bimax jaw surgery mainly for aesthetic reasons (facial balance, stronger jawline, better midface projection), not only for bite or breathing issues.
I want to ask people who have experience or knowledge:
Any advice, personal experiences, or examples of good vs bad consultations would be really appreciated.
I’m considering bimax jaw surgery mainly for aesthetic reasons (facial balance, stronger jawline, better midface projection), not only for bite or breathing issues.
I want to ask people who have experience or knowledge:
- How should I clearly communicate my goals to the surgeon?
I’m aiming for a strong, masculine facial structure (good forward projection, defined jawline, balanced profile).- What terms or concepts should I use so the surgeon understands exactly what I want?
- Is it okay to bring reference photos or talk about facial archetypes (for example “strong male model / Chad-like proportions”)?
- What planning aspects are crucial for aesthetics in bimax?
- Maxilla advancement vs impaction
- Mandible advancement / rotation
- Occlusal plane changes
- Chin projection (with or without genioplasty)
- What are red flags that indicate a bad or unsuitable surgeon?
- Dismissing aesthetic concerns
- Only focusing on bite and saying “aesthetics will be fine”
- Not showing simulations or past cases
- Avoiding detailed explanations
- What questions should I ask during consultations to make sure the surgeon is capable of delivering strong aesthetic results?
Any advice, personal experiences, or examples of good vs bad consultations would be really appreciated.
