When you establish a connection to tor , everyone establishes the connection at a different rate. For instance, I might connect to tor in 5.43 Seconds, but that string is a uniquely identifying factor. Remember, your service provider knows when and if you have connected to tor, and the final server shows a connection time of the same string, then the "volunteers" (adversary owned servers) can cross correlate.
