Hi, this is my first high IQ thread which isn't a troll (hopefully high iq, i spent along time gatherings ources and info), I spend a really long time researching deep bites (aka type 1 overbite/true overbite) because I am someone who suffers from this, I always thought I was just doomed with my lower third length but I have found that I am not, and I hope to gain at the very least +5mm of length of the chin (ortho predicted 5-15mm). This is pretty cheap, and I am personally going through with this and will post my before and after on a post later.

Now onto the thread:
(forgive the "ai" or "translater" sounding language, I am not a native speaker in english and use grammarly AI language tools to make my text a lot better).

Fixing a deepbite, or type 1 overbite, is one of the most underrated ways to ascend. It does more than just straighten your teeth. It reshapes your face by making your jaw stronger, your chin longer, and even pushing out your cheekbones (zygos) to give you a fuller midface. Here is why fixing a deepbite matters and what kind of results you can expect.

What Is a Deepbite?

A deepbite happens when your upper front teeth overlap your lower teeth too much vertically, usually covering more than 25% (Mine personally cover 90-95% of bottom teeth). This pushes your lower jaw back and up, which causes a short chin, flat or hollow cheeks, and weak support under the eyes. It can also lead to problems with chewing, jaw pain, and speech What is a deep bite?.

Why Fix It?

  • Longer and More Defined Chin:
When you fix a deepbite, your lower jaw moves downward and forward. This lengthens the chin area and sharpens the jawline, turning a recessed or rounded chin into a stronger, more attractive feature Overbite Correction in 8-Days Without Braces or Surgery.
  • Better Cheekbones and Midface Shape:
Correcting your bite improves the position of the maxilla (upper jaw), which supports the cheekbones. This makes your face look broader and the cheeks more pronounced, giving a healthier and younger appearance Deep Bite: Before and After.
  • Improved Under-Eyes:
Fixing deepbite provides better bone support beneath your eyes, which reduces hollowness and shadows that make you look tired or older. It lifts the soft tissue under the eyes for a fresher and more awake look Overbite Correction in 8-Days Without Braces or Surgery.
  • Better Overall Profile:
Fixing a deepbite changes your face profile. It elongates the lower face, improves lip posture, and reduces the fake SFS look that deepbite can cause. Your side view becomes more balanced and more attractive Deep Bite Correction with Aligners: A Successful Case Study.

QOL IMPROVEMENTS/LIFEMAX:

How Is a Deepbite Fixed?

  • Best option: Self - Litigating Braces (damon braces):
These are different from braces because they allow symmetrical maxillary growth to happen, I am not 100% sure about this but it has been reported by many on org and .com. These are also way more comfortable and let you practice proper swallowing and mouth posture better.
  • Braces or Clear Aligners:
These straighten teeth and gently move the bite into the right position. Treatment usually involves opening the bite by moving front teeth up or back teeth down. Treatment time varies but can take from several months to a few years depending on how severe the deepbite is Deep bite malocclusion correction with SmartForce Aligner.
  • Additional Appliances:
Some cases use devices like bite turbos, expanders, or rubber bands to help teeth move properly.
  • Surgery:
Severe cases in adults with bone structure issues may require surgery to reposition the jaws.

What Results Can You Expect?

  • Front Profile:
  • Noticeably longer and more defined chin
  • Fuller midface with better cheekbone projection
  • Reduced hollow under eyes and less tired look
  • Straighter, more balanced smile with lips resting naturally
  • Less jaw discomfort and better chewing ability
  • Side:
  • Potentially more forward growth (mandibular)
  • Less recessed chin, longer chin/jaw generally, less hollow midface.
Many people ascend after fixing their deepbite because their facial structure appears more balanced and attractive. Before-and-after photos show big changes in the face, not just the teeth Deep Bite Correction Before and After Orthodontic Treatment.

TLDR;
Deepbite / True Overbite correction can result in a crazy ascension, I estimate you could gain +0.5-1.5 psl with this relatively cheap procedure(s). Improvement across the board, a looksmax wet dream. (specifically chin + maxillary change / CCW rotation)

Mine covers like 85% of my lower teeth and my cheekbones arent very visable and my top palate is narrow im 15 would a 3 way expander and braces help me ascend

u need mse/marpe (depending on sutures status rn) and probably after marpe / mse you will get braces/invisalign. if you're cheekbones aren't visible it may be over, but if they are just flat and still laterally visible u could ascend. even without cheekbones the procedures will help u a lot, pls upvote me i stayed up righting this answer for u

just get damon braces if they don't grant you marpe, it causes maxillary growth , just don't get extractions or regualr braces. invisalign is also OK

this will not do that - it will make your face longer (owing to the chin + the rotation of your bite) rather than wider. it will make you a lot more balanced, to see what that could look like you can morph your chin and jaw to be longer (still wouldnt show maxillary / palatal rotation)

Yes, its a great profile for someone with SFS but nonetheless he would ascend past at least 75% of people with sfs correction (deepbite correction) because hes already above average / averageish

you can still get self ligating braces or expander (surgically)
What is gonna fix my hypoplaptic nose that is effected by the overbite and I think my maxilla even has slight recession because of this and my lower jaw width is cooked and I have this chin look at the pic.I think I defo need a trimax

Jutting wont fix a deep bite, a deep bite is not the same as an overbite. It is a very specific type of overbite that makes it look like you have SFS and feminized lower third because of how short it is when you bite

when was jutting mentioned? I mentioned hardmaxxing lol. As I said, a CLASS 1 OVERBITE aka Deepbite (very specific type of overbite) makes you look like you have sfs becuse your teeth overlap without any mandibular recession, due to poor SPEE curve of the teeth. This means your teeth aren't like a horizontal line / flat. Flattening the SPEE curve would lead to forward and downward rotation of the mandibular bone.

in an ideal scenario what would be the best way to fix a severe deep bite in your opinion
I honestly think bimax + braces would also correct any issues with maxilla and overall structure while also fixing deep bite, so thats the best, but second best is probably jst self ligating braces sicne they are very low maintenance and work well for fixing deep bite + widening arch.

TLDR;
Deepbite / True Overbite correction can result in a crazy ascension, I estimate you could gain +0.5-1.5 psl with this relatively cheap procedure(s). Improvement across the board, a looksmax wet dream. (specifically chin + maxillary change / CCW rotation)

def good but its not for what i was talking about. that is for class 2 or class 3. i am talking about TRUE overbite aka class 1 which is just overlap not overjet
true overbite aka class I?? what are you even saying class I bite is literally a normal bite

this might be the most AI slop thread oat, how does this make any sense? if you have a deep bite that means your mandible is retrusive wrt your maxilla, so the most common solution is around advancing the mandible. how would this improve under eyes?
