How will braces affect my face?

I'm someone that was born with a gap tooth and had one my entire childhood; its nothing small that can be fixed via composite bonding. The only solution is to get some braces, which will narrow my palette as a result. What changes will I see on the rest of my face, and to what extent? This is my first post so excuse me if I've done anything wrong.

for me i got braces when i was around 12 and they literally saved my facial structure because they had bands in them that made me keep my mouth closed and pushed my lower jaw forward, i was a mouth breather before
