HUGE BUG ON TELEGRAM

ok this might not be a bug but i can't see the messages that people send me on telegram , a friend sent me one and the only way i could find him is by asking his user and contacting him , the first time i was going to send him the message , his message had already been sent
Its like i can't see messages "request" and i can only message people myself to engage the discussion , its so weird
Pls help
Ive checked privacy settings but yea nothing changed
