Human behavioral patterns are deeply rooted in evolutionary history. Many of our instincts, fears, social behaviors and even preferences were shaped tens of thousands of years ago during the hunter-gatherer era. . Modern societies are a relatively new thing and are far too recent. This is one of the reasons for anti social behavior. We are still hyper competitive aggressive tribalistic violent apes that we were thousands of years ago but have learned to control our impulses and behavior to suit living in a society in peaceful harmony and have been forced to give up individual greed for the greater good but these behaviors still surface regularly in people crime exists for a reason.
Even foid mate preferences dark triad theory. Preference for masculine strong men is inbuilt in us. What's the point of being strong in a modern society where there are tools and machinery for everything and gettinf eaten by tigers and lions is not a concern? But our brains are still wired this way. Behaviors around dominance, respect, and status are also ancient and have always existed. This is one of the ways human behavior and by that extension foid behavior can be explained. Things make a lot of sense when you look at it this way in our modern world even with tech and cities our brains are still wired like our ancestors.
