At this point living standards were up, most people had decent incomes and careers, the dating market was actually pretty good - only 8% of men over 28 or something were virgins, the political system was stable in that elections were not these apocalyptic showdowns, technology was there but in not such a way that it had taken over our lives.

Then came the 2010s and now the 2020s. Social media dominates our life, a large part of our social lives is relegated to a screen, an increasingly small proportion of men fuck all the women, large swaths of the population face crippingly mental health disorders, the country hates itself more than ever..

Being born in ~1980 was optimal. Grow up in the 90s and experience young adulthood in the 2000s. From there, it is all downhill.

We pretty much had the same technology as now except for smartphones. People spent more time outside, were better dressed, took better care of themselves.... It was a whole other vibe: If you wanted to go on the internet, you already could: But people's lifestyles weren't enslaved by it...
