As most of you know ,it is beneficial for a man to be tall within the dating market.
If you're tall, you have higher chances for relationships and marriage and whatnot. So tall men have a sexual advantage.
Nowadays height isn't necessarily beneficial to us in terms of survival or health and can sometimes even be negative for certain health problems. It is purely preferred due to it being more attractive. So being tall is a mating advantage only and can be negative in terms of survival.
But this doesn't prevent the spreading of tall genes because as long as one reproduces before their death their genes are passed on.
We've observed within modern human history that the average height has risen population wise. I suspect this trend will continue and that we're slowly but surely running into a Fischerian Runaway selection and that humans will grow so tall, till it becomes an enormous health and survival disadvantage.
It is reasonable to fear that in the future this will become such a disadvantage that you die due to health disadvantages before you are able to reproduce.
So maybe in the future we'll go extinct in a classic Fischerian Runaway Selection like it happened to the Irish Elk which had enormous antlers which were too hard to maintain.
But to be very honest there is also reason to suspect it won't happen at the scale I am suggesting because foids don't have the same mating advantage in being tall nor is it preferred by the overall population for a woman to be necessarily tall.
A child inherits half of his genetics from his mother. So if an average tall foid reproduces with a tall male, the foid's genetics act as a brake making the population taller but never too tall.
Still Fischerian runaway selection extinction may be possible if foids become even more hypergamous and only choose tall dudes
