The notion that girls are inherently hypergamous simply isn’t true.
The fact of the matter is that there are more conventionally attractive women than men. One reason for this is that women, on average, have historically placed more emphasis on their appearance and taking care of themselves than their male counterparts.
If anything, the claim that men are more hypergamous has more merit. A lot of men seem to believe they deserve a partner who is more attractive, successful, or desirable than what they themselves bring to the table. In other words, it’s not necessarily women who are always looking for chad, sometimes it’s men who expect to get more than they can realistically offer.
