it's different it depends on where ur from. I'm in netherlands and studying at uni of applied sciences. for me the first semester is from February till middle of June, then second is from September to January.

at my uni its common but its different everywhere. so far theres no difference between this and september start but its a bit more chaotic with the scheduling.
