If he wins he doubles the money, if not he loses everything. He lost everything and that was a large part of his fortune. I just need 5-10k € to looksmax. I would have bought a house or flat cash. I no longer had to pay rent and would be practically halfway wealthy. I could spend my salary of 2500 € net for things that I want, no rent or home loan.
I could live in Germany for half the year and in Thailand or another paradise the other half of the year. fuck it.

Basically it all started when my father moved from albania (was 17 at the time) with his whole family.
My grandma found a man with money and stayed with him.
So my dad's family (siblings, so my aunts, and my grandma, his mom) lived there to this day.
My dad was KICKED OUT OF THE HOUSE with me being 3 years old, my sister 2 years old and my little brother was just born (this happened 14 years ago) and my mom.
We found a small shitty house were we lived greatly till my dad's job stopped, the company had failed.
We lived on scavengin things around: tomatoes and other vegetables because we could hardly affor rent.
After years of struggle my mom got her driving license and starting working with old people (helping them around) so we had enough money for everything we needed, but still living in a shitohole that caused us sickness every year.
Then the owner of the house (old man) died and the daughters said that we have to move out.
So my grandma found us a house.
All good right?? NOOO.
One year ago (2 years since we are in this house, which is way better) she found another house, bought it the old man's money and put FRICKING STUDENTS IN THERE. SO SHE COULD MAKE MONEY.
YOU KNOW WHAT'S WORSE??? SHE SAID SHE WAS GONNA PUT THE HOUSE ON MY NAME WHEN I'M 18 TO ALL OUR RELATIVES IN ALBANIA BUT NOW SHE'S SAYING THAT SHE WANTS OTHER HOUSE BECAUSE SHE NEEDS MONEY.

He had a very high position in Germany's largest steel company. I think he earned a large part of his fortune from his salary and low risk investments during this time. In his old days, however, he gambled away all of his financial life work.

This country can never build a solid economy and infrastructure. Everyone over there defrauds and is corrupt. In addition, the work ethic is very low. People would rather make "fast money" doing criminal business than learn a solid job or start a business. Most of the time, however, these illegal businesses don't work because the people there are low IQ and they end up in jails all over the world or get shot.

He most likely still has a very comfortable life I am assuming. There's little difference in having 200k in savings or a million tbh. So set aside 200k and yolo the rest. Atleast if you have 10 million you could go all-out with expensive cars and buy a small mansion. I mire his attitude.

The thrill of gambling a million dollars is also worth something. Having it in real estate for 5% returns/year is boring, especially when you are oldcel with enough money anyways.
