I am researching how to build a viking shield because my life is in danger

I am in danger of being attacked and killed and I can't say what or why. It is only one maniac who is the danger tho. I do not know when will this lunatic lose his mind again, but I am pretty sure I will be one of his targets. That is all I am willing to say.

I will make a shield from 6 mm thick (historicaly accurate thickness) birch plywood and cover the front and back with several layers of heavy linen canvas and pva wood glue. Linen was used when rawhide was not available in the past. I need to order or make a central metal boss. Thegn Thrand was my inspiration on youtube for construction methods.

This is obviously for home defence. If I am out in the open and he is armed I will run, idgaf about shame. Unarmed I fuck him up no questions asked, he is not strong, just insane and literaly a diagnosed schizo.

I think a good shield, if one is not utterly weak and retarded, makes one almost unbeatable in a one vs one melee if the other person does not have a shield.

My weapon will be a good old hatchet or maybe even a kind of a trench mace I have improvised, we shall see. Maybe I should get pepper spray for the street? Probably.

When attacked use Viking shield + per spray combo

Then if non lethal options don't work have a couple of knives on you

Just make sure to make it legal cause you don't want any trouble

So get those permits and in worst case scenario call police

He seems stable now. He is a diagnosed schzio that overdosed on amphetamines and I was there when it happened. He had crazy persecutory delusions thinking everyone is out to get him. I screenshoted his insane messages to me, for documetnation purposes. Well, tommorow I went to see him and when I used the bathroom he went through my phone and found the screenshots. He lost his shit but I told him I never sent them to a person but to chatGPT to see how to calm him down, since he literaly planned a killing spree of his "enemies". Because of that I had every reason to believe I was on the list.
