She wanted me to get an x-ray to see between my teeth but I refused. I have never got a cavity and never will, despite not using toothpaste or flossing.

I asked her the dosage and wavelength of the x-rays and she said: “there’s much more radiation in sunlight”.

I said: “that’s obvious that there’s more total radiation in sunlight, but radiation is a spectrum and most of the radiation from sunlight is not as harmful x-rays. Im sure there’s not more x-rays in sunlight. I’m asking what the dosage of x-rays is”

Then she replied with the same answer, something like: “the x-rays is a small amount there’s more radiation from going outside”

I gave up asking her, because she clearly did not understand or did not know or care. My mom wanted me to get the x-ray but I refused because I will not do something unnatural like this without doing any prior research. You can’t trust the “professionals” who don’t even have a clue about anything they are just told what to do and what is safe or unsafe.

Using the term “radiation dose” means I cannot draw a conclusion because it does not specify the type of radiation.

Read through this thread:
Well it's comparing the mSv which is a measure of ionizing radiation, naturally you are exposed to x-rays and gammas rays (which are ionizing) through cosmic rays and the sun.

I guess the issue would be that receiving the dosage in one area could potentially be more harmful than receiving it over your entire body, but it seems more significant from a CT scan which is a 1000x stronger than a normal dental scan.

Well x rays and gamma rays are different.

But an issue could be the acute exposure to high amounts of x rays vs the low grade chronic exposure that we are used to
