(Also ate 80percent of the daily recommended dose of zinc, but in sulfate version, which cannot get very well absorbed in the body. So I guess my skin got better mainly because of the carrots and not the zinc)

My hands and my forehead got yellowish/orange, to the point where when I rubbed a towel against my forehead it got yellow spots.

Acne could have been done by zinc. Beta-carotene is still legit, even modest amounts from carrots or peppers.
