not because I'm afraid of premature aging or skin cancer like many anti aging fanatics here but because I hate sweating more than anything. I can't stand that gross feeling when my skin is all sticky and itchy and my seborrheic dermatitis starts to act up. I'd prefer a tan over the pale rotter look I have now, but sweating just grosses me out. I'm literally allergic to it.
How people enjoy baking in the sun is beyond me. Using tanning beds is more comfortable than sunbathing naturally because of cooling fans and shorter tanning duration necessary to achieve results. It's actually quite pleasant in the winter, but I want to keep as cool as possible during the summer season. I woke up at 2:30 am tonight and couldn't get back to sleep because I was sweating so much.
Putting my little rant aside, these are some tips that may help with excess sweating:
- intermittent fasting and calorie restriction
- cold meals and cooling foods like dairy, fruit and peppermint
- limiting sodium (carefully though, because you loose a ton of it from sweating) and avoiding spicy or sour food and alcohol
- reducing physical activity
- ventilating/aerating rooms at night and closing window blinds during the day
- avoiding poorly ventilated public transport vehicles like the subway or overcrowded busses if possible (not possible in my case atm, unfortunately)
- being shirtless at home
- blow drying hair with cold air after showering
- sleeping without a blanket
What are your strategies to stay cool in the summer heat?
