it’s because Jesus is thought to be a god himself which excludes the possibility of naming your child as such.

If Jesus is a God it would be a great sin to name your child Jesus because it may mean forcing your child to be like him, which would count as greed as no human is anywhere near Jesus in any way.

In the other hand, Muhammad — which same as Jesus was a prophet, does not count as a God, this means that you are allowed to name your child Muhammad and even encouraged to, as he was a good example to follow and giving that name to your newborn will strengthen the bond and tradition.

Just to explain further, you can see people named David or John which both are the names of prophets. But none of them count as being a god.
