Bro Red Dead 2 is a prequel to Red Dead 1, you shouldn't have too much trouble understanding it.

I recommend you finish it whenever you have the freetime, it's a really good game.

Everyone seems to gas it up so much, but to me it seemed quite dull in terms of both gameplay and story. Whatever suits you I suppose.
