A lot of the times your financial success comes to depend a lot on how much you can please other people and keep them from screwing you over. This often involves acting like you love your life while shoving your emotions into a corner. If you live/grow up in an enclave I don’t think you worry about this but if you grow up in a PWA being damaged in that way is largely inevitable. My mom lived in an enclave in Flushing when she first moved here but she became more anxious and unstable after moving to the town we live in now. Also if you grow up in a mostly white town and your parents are immigrants you end up looking down on your own parents because of outside influences and even how your parents influence you to assimilate. I know firsthand.
