Having female friends is very important when fighting against social subversion attacks from women. It is very hard for a man to stand up to women directly. When a crazy woman is coming after you and trying to destroy your reputation then you will be very glad when you have some trustworthy female friends to utterly eviscerate and humiliate that woman. For an example, imagine you have a female co-worker who is saying all sorts of bullshit about you. Now if you try to debate her you will just look like a bully, but if your female friends come in and call her out on her bs you will be protected.

Another way having female friends helps is it gives you access to more women. If you are friends with a woman and she has a lot of female friends then it is likely one of them might like you. I do believe you need to have very clear boundaries with your female friends. No talking about intimate relationships, no coming over to their house, no heavy drinking alone with them etc... You need to have very strong mutual respect.

You should instead talk about emotions you feel about work, debate ideas you have about general topics (politics, religion, social issues, philosophy etc..) , discuss and ask for advice on non romantic and non intimate relationships (e.g. coworkers) and discuss financial problems. These are all good things to talk about with female friends that might be inappropriate to talk about with a romantic partner. Different relationships have different boundaries.
