Clinging to family traditions and expectations is pointless. Instead of following heritage, choose your own path, even if it’s harsh and difficult.

There has to be structure in life. Things only have meaning if you respect boundaries
You must acknowledge boundaries and make sure you are contained within them.
Growth as a person can only occur if there is some focal point/range. There needs to be an anchor or you're drifting aimlessly
If you lack these boundaries, you cannot grow as an individual. You deprive yourself of categorisation - as you fail to differentiate x from y
You allow the lines to blur

With your specific example of racemixing.. anybody can reduce anything to a "human convention" as a way to devalue its purpose
But human conventions (in general) have been built because they aid coordination + reduce conflict (less chaos)
Needily labelling everything you disagree with (because of your own biases and misunderstandings) as abstract "because cope" is a dishonest way of living
Why stop at a social norm that isnt heavily enforced. Try treating law as arbitrary and tell me how it goes

Even from a sentimental approach, it's good to know you're playing your part by carrying on the torch
It's fulfilling

Not to mention, shared cultures and outlooks on life from similar childhoods creating an amicable relationship --> higher QoL (what truly matters)
