Most wealth is gained through deception, exploitation and pillaging anyway. Then it accumulates rapidly as their offspring invest it into stocks, get capital gains, reinvest it, and now they have the rest of the planet working for them.

If an Indian call center guy has the gall and wits to scam some western low IQ pensioner, I say good for him. Not like he is going to see that kind of money by working honestly for the next 40 years 10 hours a day.

Advancing in life is brutal, close to impossible in India if you weren't born to parents who can buy you a really, really good western education. If you make it big scamming stupid foreigners I say go for it and don't feel guilt. Most western people who condemn it would do the exact same thing in your situation.

I wouldn't like it happening to someone in my family, but hell, if they're stupid enough to buy gift cards for someone across the globe calling themselves "Microsoft support", they deserve to lose that money and didn't need it anyway. $500 or even a couple grand is peanuts for a westerner but can change an Indian persons life entirely.
