I don't understand why most people didn't just rope before modern comforts

-Can only eat low-quality grain/carb-based diets unless you're very lucky. Little or no meat.
-No sex outside of marriage unless you're willing to risk death/harsh punishment. Also, your wive will hate you/not be attracted to be (tbf it's the same now).
-12-16 hour workdays
-No entertainment. No TV, games, internet or even books.
-No alcohol depending on where you lived.
-No healthcare
-Possibility of being murdered by invading armies.

Just lol unless you were part of the aristocracy you could as well have roped. I legit don't get it what kept people going at the time.

They simply didn't know what they were missing, they couldn't imagine back then that one day people will be able to travel freely, have sex freely, have tv, internet, video games, etc...

I'm watching Star Trek right now and it's very difficult for me to live without a replicator that can instantly materialize whatever food, clothes, objects, etc. you want, a holodeck where you can simulate whatever setting, world, scenario you want, etc. in the future when these things will be a reality, people will probably wonder how people in the 21st century could live without these things.

I don't think replicators or holodecks are things the everyday person had access to. I was under the impression those are expensive technologies. It's sort of like saying because airplanes exist, everybody can just go buy one.

Tbh I've always felt holodecks in sci-fi universes make no sense. They are presented as not being real yet the people there can physically interact with the world or even use weapons inside of them wtf.

How holodecks are treated in fiction is not consistent. But assuming they are using replicated matter, how are the people in the simulations not real? Actually for that matter, what even makes it a 'simulation' at all? If actual real matter is being created it's not simulating anything because everything is actually physically real.

Tbh nothing about the holodeck makes sense. The only way we will ever have anything that resembles a holodeck irl is if we use holograms/3D projections and even then it won't feel anything like real life.

It's not complete matter, just a layer of matter on top of force fields that move and change shape, kinda like the terminators weren't real people but metal robots with some living tissue on them to make them more realistic...

Sounds fucking retarded tbh. You would need an insane amount of processing power to simulate all this shit. Maybe in the future they actually have it but I dunno. In any case I think this is just the writers making up shit as they go along.

Also, in some sci-fi settings the stuff in the simulator IS real. For instance there was this episode of Orvil where somebody committed murder by spawning in a simulated blaster gun and then used it to shoot somebody. The energy blast fired by the simulated gun even made the victim explode just lol.
