Sometimes that's what it takes to see the truth, I could also be biased towards a different view if that wasn't the case, at the end of the day the truth is what the truth is and being pushed into a certain view by your individual circumstances won't change it. I.E being an ugly failure will give you more time to even think about these issues whereas the opposite of that would be too busy indulging in his success to even be able to think rationally about it.
