90% of comedy = Take something that normans hate (typically some unpopular truth) and ridicule it, or alternatively take something that normals love, and make its powerful level arbitrary. This is almost all comedy.

Comedy = cope for the masses.

Actually, this may very well be the evolutionary causes of humor. People evolved to find things funny, as a method of expressing their superiority. One could even argue that humor, is in fact just sadism in disguise.
