I’ve been bullied my whole life because of the way I look, and now that I’ve improved my appearance, I still feel like I’m not good enough.
When I was 9, I was diagnosed with mild depression, and when I was 10, I tried to end my life by jumping from a fourth-floor window. All of this was because of my appearance.
I always wondered why blonde, blue-eyed kids were so popular even when they were horrible people, while I, despite being one of the kindest kids you could meet, had no more than three friends. I’ve always tried to help other people, but no one has ever helped me.
When I started high school, things only got worse. The only friends I had were the nerds, along with one of the three friends I’d had before, who ended up going to the same high school as me. From the moment I arrived, people judged me and made fun of me. They didn’t even give me a chance to introduce myself.
Two years later, the bullying has stopped. I transferred to another high school and started getting a lot of attention, but I assumed it was simply because I was the new guy.
I get more attention now, and people constantly tell me I’m handsome, but I’ll always think they only say it because they’re my friends.
I had to repeat a year because of my mental health, and I’m scared of starting the new school year because I feel like if I don’t get enough attention, I won’t be able to take it anymore.
I’m not even legally an adult yet, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep going like this.
