negative punishment is widely seen as a last resort for parenting but it is sometimes needed, e.g. putting yourself or someone else in grave danger. at least that's when my parents used it.

negative reinforcement as you stated "potentially by temporarily taking away something they enjoy doing" can be helpful but in some scenarios it is sometimes just not enough ESPECIALLY for children that are ND.

I checked out the study and skimmed through the preamble and could really fall either way on this but I would assume that we all have a common "enemy", that being parents that use physical violence substantially and undeserved instead of seldomly.
