My orthodontist wasn't part of the insurance process. Only my surgeon was involved. For me to get approved for Lefort 1 and BSSO, the surgeon said I had "Maxillary Defficiency" and it was approved in a few weeks after the initial appointment.

I was pretty shocked how easy it was. I thought it would initially be denied as "cosmetic" and I would have to appeal it and request a peer-to-peer review. But it was approved on the first try.

I have Aetna Health Insurance and my surgeon is known for really working hard to get claims approved so keep that in mind.
